Beach Grass Planting
Connect With Us
A very enthusiastic group of Central Regional High School students, all members of the Ocean Club, arrived at Island Beach State Park last Thursday in a big yellow school bus, led by their teacher, Jennifer Haines. They were given a brief welcome by Pat McCarty, Supervisor and assistant, Haley Jordan and then they were off to the beach, anxious to start planting. The students worked in teams, planted just about every piece of beach grass available and they did a great job.
Since they had been at school since 7am, and it was about 11am, most were very hungry and needed a food break.
Now it was back on the bus for a trip down the road to the Interpretive Center, the Osprey Nest with the “live” cam and a walk down the trails back to the beach. A very full morning to say the least.
Thanks go out to Jennifer Haines for organizing the event and her excellent preparation of the students before they arrived at the park. We look forward to the highly movitated Ocean Club members returning next year.
